Speaker & Performer
With a commanding yet joyful presence, Dick was in-demand as a pastor, businessman, teacher, talk radio host, motivational speaker, and recording artist.
Dick’s favorite place to be was behind a microphone, whether singing, speaking, or instructing.
Dick pastored a handful of churches between North Carolina and Florida as associate or senior pastor, most notably serving as pastor of Powers Drive Baptist Church which grew from 200 to 1400 worshippers during his eight and a half years there. While at Powers Drive, he also taught Stetson University extension classes in religion and philosophy to teachers and hosted a controversial talk show on WKIS-Orlando, “Between Heaven and Hell”.
Upon leaving Powers Drive in 1973, he launched both Reach Out Ministries and Dick Milham Enterprises, through which he continued to speak and teach. His time for the first several years after leaving the full-time pastorate was split between serving as a motivational speaker across the country for major companies and teaching, speaking, and working with youth at churches and various conferences, including Blue Ridge Assembly, Glorieta Baptist Assembly, Ridgecrest Conference, and Values Clarification Conferences in Gettysburg, PA.
He created a variety of instructional business cassette series, including, as a licensed real estate broker, “Sales Skills and Personal Motivation in Real Estate” as well as recorded supplements to his book “Charis-magic in Public Speaking – The Power to Move People”.
Coming from a family of talented singers, Dick performed live and on recordings from his earliest days. Along with the recordings on this page, which include many of his own compositions such as “He Is Near” and “One Day at a Time”, he released a number of Christmas CDs, some compilations with bonus tracks, and some classic and current pop music. He also wrote and performed the narration to his musicals, “The Searcher” and “Bread”. He forever remained a favorite for church services, weddings, funerals, and graduations.
